Roof Moss Removal Coventry | Roofline Renovations And External Cleaning

Cleaning the moss off a roof is not as straightforward as it may seem — there is a right way and a wrong way to carry this process out.

We specialise in roof cleaning which causes no damage to the roof tiles.

We use a roof scraper that has been designed and manufactured by a roof cleaning professional. We also have different scrapers for different shaped roof tiles. The scrapers are attached to a telescopic pole, which allows us to clean the roof using ladders and avoids us walking on the roof tiles, which can in itself cause damage to the tiles.

We drag all the moss down towards the gutter line and then bag it all up and remove it. We make sure that the downpipes are closed so the moss and debris cannot block them up.

Once the roof has been cleaned, we then spray a biocide on the moss‑free roof and it immediately goes to work, killing all the spores, lichen, and any other organic growth on your roof. We do not rinse the solution as it will continue to work for many months.

Roof Cleaning Process:

The cost of cleaning roofs has dropped because of the latest methods, making it more affordable, so more people are choosing to have theirs cleaned. Having the roof cleaned will help prolong the lifespan of your roof for longer.

Biocidal Roof Wash:

Manual roof moss removal followed by a biocidal roof wash is the most gentle and long‑lasting solution to cleaning your roof.

We use long‑handled equipment to manually scrape moss from your roof tiles before a biocidal roof wash is applied. Once applied, the roof wash kills any remaining living organisms on your roof, including moss spores and lichen.

Benefits of Having Your Roof Cleaned:

Prolong the lifespan.
The major benefit of having your roof cleaned is that it will prolong the life of your roof. The lifespan of the roof tiles will be extended after the successful removal of moss, lichen, and algae. These living organisms can cause damage to your tiles as they grip tightly to the face of the tiles and initially cause hairline surface cracks.

With the adverse weather conditions, especially over the winter period, the moss growth causes surface hairline cracks to deepen and widen causing broken tiles and even holes in some concrete tiles! This because any moss on the roof holds the water (rain), this expands when it freezes, causing any minor damage to potentially escalate over time.
